Read at Ease

Braille Wristband

Read at Ease is a wearable reading concept inspired by the Chinese practice of gently rolling beads between the fingers “pan” culture. It brings together tactile interaction, personal adornment, and access to information, exploring how reading can become a quiet, everyday ritual.

Braille uses patterns of raised dots to represent letters, numbers, and other symbols through touch. Beyond its function as a reading system, the United Nations recognizes its importance in education, freedom of expression, and social inclusion. United Nations — World Braille Day

Designed for people who read braille, the wristband proposes a refreshable tactile surface with content loaded in advance through a companion app. This would allow users to read offline when audio is inconvenient or they prefer to keep their ears free. By translating the familiar gesture of bead rolling into an interaction for reading, the project aims to make access to written content more portable, personal, and comfortably integrated into daily life.
